This is the moment where everything else falls away — no landscape, no water, no herd, nothing to lean on except the animal itself. I shot it tight, against nothing but flat white sky, so the mane and the tilt of the head could carry the whole frame on their own. There's something in that closed eye and lowered head that feels like the whole breed distilled into one portrait — these are horses that have run wild and largely unmanaged for centuries, and yet what comes through here isn't wildness at all, it's calm. That's the paradox of the Camargue horse: bred by nothing but the marsh and the wind, and still, at the core of it, this quiet. It's the print I'd call closest to pure portraiture, and the one that says most simply what this whole collection is about.
All prints are produced with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle FineArt paper for museum-grade longevity and exceptional colour accuracy.
