Two mares, standing close on the beach, one resting her head just behind the other's ear. Unlike the stallions, there's no negotiation happening here — this is simple, quiet affection, the kind you see constantly once you spend enough time with these bands. I shot it tight against a flat, featureless sky so nothing would compete with that closeness. It's the calmest image in the collection, and I think that's what makes it valuable — proof that the story of these horses isn't only told in motion.
