Transient Dunes is a study of impermanence. Guided by the changing qualities of light, the collection reveals the desert as a landscape in continual transformation, where shifting shadows, subtle textures, and fleeting patterns create moments that can never be repeated. It is this quiet contradiction that lies at the heart of the series: a landscape that has endured for millions of years, yet is forever changing with every passing gust of wind and every movement of light.

Rather than documenting the desert, Transient Dunes is an exploration of perception. My aim is to move beyond the obvious grandeur of the landscape and focus on the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and texture that gives each scene its own character. As the dunes are transformed throughout the day, familiar forms become abstract compositions, revealing details that exist only for a fleeting moment.
This collection reflects my enduring fascination with the ephemeral. Every image is shaped by conditions that can never be recreated—the angle of the sun, the movement of clouds, the direction of the wind. It is in these quiet, transient moments that the desert reveals its most compelling beauty.

Story Behind The Image
At Sossusvlei, harsh contrast turns dune and shadow into a single, sharp-edged form. It's the interplay between the two — light against dark, curve against hard line — that gives these abstract shapes their weight and structure. And yet that weight is borrowed, not permanent: the same light that grounds the form will have moved on within the hour, and with it, the geometry disappears.

All prints are produced with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle FineArt paper for museum-grade longevity and exceptional colour accuracy. Delivery is from the United Kingdom and is included free with the purchase of all prints, including framed. Delivery is by FedEx, DHL, UPS, or DPD depending on location. Once your order is shipped you will receive an email with your tracking number. Please allow up to two weeks to fulfil your order plus one week for delivery.
Each piece is made to order, and as a result, all orders are final once placed. Packaging and protective wrapping are included.
