Kalahari lions are shaped by one of Africa’s most unforgiving environments. Compared to their counterparts in lusher ecosystems, these lions are leaner, hardier, and more accustomed to vast, open spaces where shade is rare and survival demands relentless endurance. Here, the lions must range farther, hunt smarter, and live with a constant awareness of both scarcity and opportunity. It's not for no reason that I sometimes laughingly call lions 'flat cats', as they have a tendency for sleep up to 20 hours a day. However, this was definitely not the case for this duo - the frontrunner even gave my camera a bit of a once over.
