CURIOUS MINDS

SERENGETI, TANZANIA 2025

ENQUIRE

Rather than emphasising speed or movement — traits cheetahs are best known for — Curious Minds invites us to consider the quieter side of this species: the moments of curiosity, development, and individual personality that often go unnoticed. The focus shifts to personality and presence, to the quiet ways young animals begin to interpret their environment.

Cheetah cubs are typically shy around vehicles, but in this case, the young cub approached, intrigued by the camera and the unfamiliar shape of the car. Its comfort reflects a growing habituation, likely the result of responsible ecotourism and careful guiding over time. The low perspective and tight composition create a sense of shared space.

In a landscape where wildlife photography is so prolific, art becomes a way to see differently — to move beyond documentation and toward interpretation. Choosing a low angle, stripping away colour, and focusing on expression rather than action can transform the moment into something more personal. It’s not simply about showing an animal, but revealing how it sees, thinks, and feels — even if just for an instant.
